One-sixth of the world’s population lives in mostly rural areas of India, but urban growth and migration is occurring at a rapid pace. The cultures, languages, and religions, which characterize India, are profoundly diverse and the society is among one of the world’s oldest. There are six major religions, 18 official languages with innumerable dialects and tribal languages, and over 4000 castes. 42% of the world’s poor live in India.
Community Church partners with New India Church of God to invest in and empower local churches in India. Global Impact Teams work with leaders of NICG, experiencing the life and culture of the nation while having hands-on opportunities to serve in local orphanages, churches, schools, and various programs. Hands on experience includes young adults’ ministry, prayer for the sick, and open-air evangelism. Team will also have the opportunity to connect with educational programs and outreach to the homeless, widows and outcast women, and orphans. The goal is to experience the heart of the ministry
happening through New India Church of God and build relationships that will foster connectedness in the future.
